About The Position: The School of Arts & Sciences provides excellence in learning opportunities for all students at SUNY Plattsburgh through a core liberal arts education. We train students who can think critically, have mastered their discipline, can communicate effectively, and are broadly educated. The Psychology Department’s NASP-accredited program provides carefully focused knowledge and training in school psychology, which will be the center point of this successful candidate’s teaching load. This position also includes active involvement in the administration of the Specialist-level (MA/CAS) School Psychology program, developing and maintaining an active research program that engages undergraduate and graduate students in meaningful roles in the research process, supervising School Psychology interns and practicum students, and engaging in community outreach appropriate to such supervision. The opportunity to teach some undergraduate courses may also arise. With the appropriate training and interest, there could be opportunities to receive post-doctoral supervision for licensure. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and to supporting the learning and development of children, youth, and families. As an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
