GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position serves as the point person for the development and maintenance of the college’s website (www.mclennan.edu) and any other college-related webpages to ensure that these webpages reflect the college’s mission, positioning, goals, priorities, and specific marketing objectives. Provides assistance in the management and maintenance of the website including researching, creation, testing, and updating of the college’s website media and content. Plan, schedule, and test for quality and effectiveness of webpages and microsites to include a combination of text, audio, graphics, pictures, videos, and multi-media. This position receives general direction from the Director of Marketing and Communications and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary: Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. Must be available for some flexible scheduling.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and
work experience.
Experience: More than one year of experience working in a computer-related or web design field, including graduate assistance, work study, and/or internships.
Knowledge of: 1. How to develop and edit webpages using a content management system (CMS). 2. HTML, web design, and website plug-ins. 3. Responsive design and experience developing websites for a variety of platforms, including mobile devices. 4. Title III regulations and ADA standards for Accessible Design. 5. Web-based forms. 6.Elements of attractive design. 7. Fundamentals of effective visual communications. 8.Fundamentals of effective marketing
communications. Skills in: 9. Graphic design and video editing skills for web. 10. Providing advice and counsel to departments on web strategies. 10. Computer software like Adobe CC Suite and Microsoft Suite. 11. HTML/XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript/AJAX coding for website design. 12. Minimal video editing with editing software like Adobe Premiere, Apple Final Cut, or Techsmith Camtasia. Ability to: 13. Work independently with external vendors for additional website assets and content management software maintenance. 14. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. 15. Work efficiently with a wide range of constituents. 16. Develop and implement new procedures. 17. Plan and manage CMS training opportunities for college faculty and staff.
