Transfer Admissions Counselor

We are searching for an experienced Transfer Admissions Counselor at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Admissions Counselor (Transfer Students) recruits and counsels prospective transfer students from community colleges and feeder institutions. Counsels prospective students regarding transferability of courses taken elsewhere. Reviews and evaluates course work for credit evaluation to determine qualification for admission to Otis College. This position maintains comprehensive and up-to-date articulation agreements with community colleges and other feeder institutions on transferable courses. The position involves extensive travel within the United States and some International travel as well as working evenings and weekends. This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions. Spanish language fluency is required for this position. 

CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Responsible for the evaluation and re-evaluation of transfer applications and the awarding of transfer credit for classes taken at accredited colleges and schools. Liaises with Department Chairs and Academic Advising to approve transfer placement and the awarding of credits. • Reviews, updates, and maintains comprehensive articulation agreements with community colleges and other key feeder institutions. Formalizes articulation agreements and oversees the maintenance of articulation data on transferable courses. • Serves as an information resource for the Otis College community and the general public on articulation policies and the awarding of transfer credits. Collaborates with community college counselors to assist students considering transferring to Otis College. • Reaches out to community partners regularly and develops ongoing, positive, working relationships with administrative contacts, faculty, academic advisors, and department chairs both internally and externally to the College. Seeks opportunities to streamline and improve the transfer application review process for all stakeholders involved and with departmental resources in mind. • Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates transfer outreach activities, Planning a robust recruitment trips under the guidance of and with supervisory input from upper management. This includes booking school visits and events, coordinating travel arrangements, and processing follow-up documentation/expense reports. Completes event evaluations and all trip follow-up correspondence. • Helps identify key feeder colleges/institutions. Manages an assigned territory to develop qualified applicants for admission and enrollment at Otis College. Updates CRM with institutions identified for outreach visits and travels to college fairs, portfolio days, classroom visits, high schools, community colleges and other recruitment events. Must be extremely organized and demonstrate attention to detail. • Delivers engaging and dynamic presentations at key feeder institutions and community colleges throughout the country for Students, parents/families and educators. • Manages assigned travel arrangements independently for out-of-state and local travel. Processes timely follow-up documentation. Submits travel and expense reports regularly. • Organizes and participates in on-campus counseling sessions for transfer applicants and other transfer-specific events. Communicates with prospective students via in-person interviews, by telephone, during portfolio reviews, on campus tours, Zoom, and via written communication (i.e., responding to emails regarding application status, writing inquiries to prospective students.) • Counsels prospective transfer applicants on admission policies and procedures. Communicates with prospective students via in-person interviews, by telephone, and via written communication. Counsels students on transfer pathways and course selections for their intended major. Responds to questions and inquiries in an expedient manner. • Reviews student artwork and credentials at portfolio day events. Offers solutions to applicant problems and answers questions regarding admissions policies and/or procedures. • Reviews applications for admission interpreting both domestic and international academic records. Evaluates portfolio submissions and other application items. Responsible for holistically evaluating applications using Otis College's rubric. • Participates in and contributes to meetings, training programs, and the department's overall operational goals. Plans and implements training programs for other Otis College Admissions Counselors on transfer file reviews. Creates transfer credit guidelines, procedures, and evaluative exercises on articulation agreements. • Maintains currency on College policies affecting admissions, recruitment, financial aid, transfer credit evaluation, and other areas related to enrollment. • Represents Otis College at on-campus recruitment events. Performs tours of the campus at events and other instances as needed. Assists with event preparation and set-up as needed, Such as on-campus, virtual tours, and campus events.

•Performs other related duties as assigned



Required Qualifications:

Spanish language fluency required. Bachelor's degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience working in recruitment and admissions, higher education, or for arts organizations is required. Individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.  

PREFERRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: 
Past experience working with transfer students preferred. Experience and/or education at a fine art and design institution or similar background are highly desirable.


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation Type: Hourly Wage

Salary Range: 47,281.00 - 56,414.00
