Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director of Development reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement with a dotted line to the Sr. Associate Director of Marketing and Communications. The individual in this role will manage stewardship activities for donors to the School of Social Policy & Practice. They are responsible for conducting and overseeing stewardship planning processes and implementation. Activities will include planning special events for scholarship donors, creating opportunities for donors with named funds to meet the dean, staffing SP2 Board committees and preparing donor reports on how named funds are used. Additionally, the individual in this role will assist faculty in the preparation of grant proposals for corporations and foundations and serve as the liaison to the central Corporate and Foundation relations team. They support the SP2 Institutional Advancement gift officers working collaboratively to fulfill the department's ongoing mission to secure resources to expand the impact of the School of Social Policy & Practice, inform and engage key stakeholders, and develop and maintain meaningful and long-lasting relationships. Some evening/weekend work required.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide strategic oversight for timely and comprehensive donor stewardship, including developing a dynamic stewardship strategy for term and endowed funds as well as for board members. Explore new and refreshed methodologies to enhance stewardship of current donors. Projects will include special events, donor reports
  • Draft language for acknowledgement letters. Personalize and routinely update language. Coordinate with administrative coordinator for mailings.
  • Prepare donor stewardship and grant reports. Manage the production of annual reports as well as progress reports to significant donors, including chair reports and special gift reports. Coordinate with administrative coordinator for mailing.
  • Draft and finalize proposals and grant requests for corporate and foundation prospects
  • Serve as point of contact for School's finance team to ensure that funds are being used as specified in the associated gift agreement
  • Support SP2 front-line fundraising team on targeted gift campaigns
  • Staff SP2 Board committees including Development, Marketing and Corporate Engagement
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.Strong writing, organizational, and event-planning skills. Experience and/or training in areas such as marketing, public relations, or alumni relations. Must be creative, flexible, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and resourceful. Ability to see and understand the school's objectives for the Institutional Advancement office, and to integrate goals with those objectives. Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
