Job Description


The Department of Animal and Avian Sciences (ANSC) at the University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking a Coordinator, Laboratory Courses and Equipment (#129431.) This individual will work in-person, on-site and manage all aspects of support for the teaching laboratories and animal management courses, as well as for the Department’s core laboratory equipment. Fall semester classes begin on August 26, 2024.

Responsibilities: This is a 12-month Full-Time, in person, Exempt Staff position. Under general supervision from the Department Chair, the coordinator will provide support for laboratory courses. They will coordinate and facilitate the Principles of Animal Science Laboratory, laboratories for courses on Anatomy and Physiology, and other courses based on departmental need. They will also coordinate and maintain departmental common equipment in the ANSC Core Equipment Laboratories and facilitate their use. Occasional in-person night and weekend work will be required. Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related discipline and 3 years of experience working directly with production animals/livestock. Experience working in a laboratory setting with laboratory equipment. Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Animal Science or a related discipline. Prior teaching experience is strongly desired. Experience managing budgets and supplies is helpful.
