The Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is actively recruiting outstanding faculty members. These faculty members will have an interest in clinical care, teaching and other scholarly activities. The recruitment activities are for the following Pediatric subspecialties:

Pediatric Rheumatology

The outpatient services are located in the Rutgers Child Health Institute of NJ, a state of the art facility that includes a Pediatric CRC, Pediatric subspecialty offices, and a modern research facility. Our New Brunswick–based clinical programs have achieved Accredited Status for Ambulatory Health Care by the Joint Commission, one of only a small number of academic ambulatory practices with this status. Inpatient consultations are performed at the Bristol Myer –Squibb Children’s Hospital (BMSCH) in New Brunswick, NJ, a 105-bed acute care hospital located on the only pediatric academic health campus in New Jersey. BMSCH is a five-time Magnet recipient that is recognized as “One of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News and World Report.  Adjacent to the Children’s hospital is the PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital which is one of the country’s largest inpatient acute rehabilitation hospitals for children. Across the street is the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey – the only NCI designated center in the state of New Jersey as well as the Ronald MacDonald House.

The Department of Pediatrics has a full complement of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, and outpatient services are provided at the Child Health Institute of New Jersey which also houses our research faculty. The Department of Pediatrics includes 124 physicians and basic scientists who conduct collaborative research with an emphasis on mechanisms of disease, novel therapies, epidemiology and/or outcomes research in the areas of relevance to childhood diseases. Our centers of excellence include The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, Child Health Sciences, and the Institute for the Study of Child Development.  The Department has recently expanded by more than 40 new faculty members and plans to recruit additional faculty, to expand our research, education, and clinical programs and provide improved care to our patients. The Department provides a collaborative setting for the study of basic mechanisms of disease and outcomes research that would provide new insights to the treatment of childhood diseases.

The Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine is consistently ranked as one of the highly NIH-funded academic universities and Rutgers is a member of the Association of American Universities comprising the top comprehensive research universities in North America. As the state’s premiere institution, located in central Jersey, there are many opportunities to collaborate across campuses with all the health professional schools and biomedical science schools at the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Candidates will be considered at any stage of their career with rank dependent on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will hold an MD degree or equivalent or MD/PhD degree and must have completed an ACGME accredited residency program.

Successful candidates will be board certified or board eligible (BC/BE). There will be opportunities for academic growth, career development and mentorship, with protected time for educational and clinical research activities, depending on applicant interests and accomplishments.
