Job Description

This is a 40 hour/week position. Major duties will be to teach three sections of Physics I or Physics II per semester in the Department of Physics, with six contact hours per section, or two sections of Physics I or Physics II per semester with additional collateral duties as assigned by the department head. Successful candidates must operate in a multi-section, multi-instructor course, under direction of a Course Coordinator. The selectee, in coordination with other faculty, will develop (as appropriate) syllabi, course readings, assignments, class projects, and other pedagogical assessments of student learning and course outcomes. The selectee will also participate in planning and co-curricular activities of the course as necessary. Selectee will be employed through Summer 2025, and is expected to provide curricular and other academic support, possible to include teaching.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

MIMIMUM Educational requirementsMS in Physics or closely related field.

MINIMUM Specialized experience in addition to education, in order to be rated minimally qualified:  None.

In addition to the minimum education and specialized experience, exceptional candidates will have the following:

Preferred specialized experience:

  1. Experience teaching in an active learning-based environment.
  2. Experience working with a diverse student body and demonstrated contributions to student learning and development outside of the classroom.
