Job Description

HOURLY WAGE: $16.04 PER HOUR

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills


GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
To provide secretarial and clerical support for the dean’s office by implementing and managing administrative processes that support the dean and the division, including answering phones, load sheet processing, schedule development, file and catalog maintenance. This position receives direction from the Dean, Health Professions, and exercises no supervision.
Note:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary: Desk work, occasional field trips, e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure - Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
 

Minimum qualifications & Requirements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:     Associate Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and work experience.
Experience:   One year of professional experience in an office environment. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:   Three years of responsible secretarial experience.

Proper use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 2. Maintaining filing systems, both digital and physical. 3. Proper phone etiquette. 4. Office management and organization such as filing, data entry, record maintenance, letter and report writing. 5. Budget maintenance. Skills in: 6. Office software and equipment, such as Microsoft Office and Cisco IP phones. 7. Keyboarding with accuracy and speed to meet the needs of the department. 8. Navigating a learning management system, such as Ellucian’s Colleague. 9. English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, office procedures, methods, and practices. 10. Principles and procedures of basic recordkeeping. 11. Using office equipment such as personal computers, scanners, and copiers.  Ability to: 12. Communicate clearly, orally and in writing. 13. Establish and maintain professional and friendly working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 14. Adapt and learn new software and technologies. 15. Understand written and oral instructions, and execute the tasks in an efficient manner.
