Student Accounts Assistant
We are searching for an experienced Student Accounts Assistant at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Student Accounts Assistant supports the Manager, Accounts Payable and Student Accounts as well as the Student Accounts Lead in handling student account duties within the Business Office/Student Financial Services Office. This position ensures that all transactions, processing, balancing, reconciliation, and related accounting functions are performed in an accurate and timely manner. This position generates and analyzes reporting on student account activity and balances. This position reports directly to the Manager, Accounts Payable and Student Accounts.
CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Supports in managing student account billing and collection processes, including generating invoices, processing payments, and communicating with students and families
? Respond to student and family inquiries regarding billing and payment issues
? Ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner
? Develop and implement effective collection strategies, including follow-up with students and families as necessary
? Prepare regular reports and analysis of student account activity
? Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing and payment issues
? Work closely with third-party billing agency and outside collections agency to monitor inventory.
? Continuously monitor and evaluate the billing and collection processes, making recommendations for improvements as needed
? Investigates delinquent accounts, prepares follow-up correspondence as required (i.e., bill notifications and billing files, third party billing, etc.) and pursues collection in accordance with departmental guidelines.
? Maintains and updates database to ensure accuracy of information. Processes online adjustments to update account balances. Posts payments, late payment charges, fees, and various fines. Places accounts on hold and/or removes holds. Posts checks with insufficient funds and tracks repayment. Balances all payment plan invoices.
? Makes recommendations to enhance and/or improve student financial services in the areas of payment plans, student loan processing, tuition deferment programs, and other related programs.
? Performs other related duties as assigned.
•Bachelor's degree required or combination of experience/education as substitute for minimum education
•A minimum of two (2) years related work experience is required
•Must have a working knowledge of analyzing and balancing student tuition accounts
•General understanding of financial aid regulations
•Must have a strong aptitude for math
•Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
•Excellent customer service skills are necessary.
•Must have demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Access.
•Must be detail-oriented. Fast and accurate data entry skills necessary.
•Experience inputting data using a ten (10) key-pad or keyboard is necessary.
Compensation Type: Hourly Wage
Salary Range: 21.77 - 25.77
