Job Description

Trinity Christian College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Computing and Data Analytics (CDA) Department, beginning August 2024.

Responsibilities:

This is a 9-month tenure-track faculty role. Primary responsibilities include teaching computing, computer science, or data analytics related courses that serve the department and college needs and align with the area of expertise of the successful candidate. The position can include opportunities to teach the history of technology; introductory programming, database, or web development; upper-level courses in your area of specialty; as well as to supervise undergraduate research. Opportunities are also available to design and teach pioneering interdisciplinary courses which go beyond preparing traditional computer science majors to support the CDA’s mission of providing all students at Trinity with the computing or data skills necessary to better pursue any disciplinary or vocational goal.

All faculty participate at Trinity in faculty governance and in student advising and are expected to pursue a healthy scholarly and research agenda. In their first year, new faculty participate in a year-long formation program that begins with a three-day institute in August.

About the Department:

The Computing and Data Analytics Department offers majors and minors in Computing, Computer Science, and Data Analytics. It is also heavily involved in Trinity's digital design and graphic design majors. All students complete a field education experience as a required graduation component with computer science and data analytics students completing a year-long consultancy project. The department is searching for colleagues with interdisciplinary interests in the field of computing, data science, or other affiliated fields. The CDA Department views computing as a liberal arts discipline and is committed to collaborating with other programs including Art, Business, Communications, Environmental Studies, History, Music, Nursing, Writing, and other humanities and social and natural science disciplines. More information about the department can be found on the college website http://www.trnty.edu.

Compensation:

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance.

Timeline:

The committee  is reviewing applications and will continue until the position is filled.

The desirable start date is August 16, 2024, with new faculty orientation preceding that date. For further information about the position contact:

All applicants with computing or data science experience will be considered. Applicants with a computer science or related degree should address their interdisciplinary work in their materials.

Trinity seeks faculty candidates who are professing Christians and are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Successful candidates will possess the ability to articulate the relationship between their academic discipline, the vocational preparation of their students, and a vision for human flourishing that emerges from the Christian faith. Successful candidates are also dedicated to personal involvement with students outside of the classroom through faculty-mentored research, advising, and other settings. Trinity particularly welcomes applications from candidates who have professional or personal narratives that reflect diverse perspectives, as well as those who have engaged with issues relevant to preparing students to work and live with intercultural competence and compassion.
