The Department of Behavior Analysis in the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Science (CNBHS) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice or a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor within the Online Master's degree program in Behavior Analysis. The position will be filled for a 7/1/24 start (negotiable).

Simmons University's Masters in Behavior Analysis and Doctorate in Behavior Analysis programs prepare students for leadership roles in the implementation, evaluation and administration of applied behavioral analytic principles and methods. Our campus-based Master of Science in Behavior Analysis program is one of the few master's programs across the world that are accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), and was the first master's program in New England to be accredited by ABAI. Our innovative curriculum emphasizes contemporary research in applied behavior analysis, and students are required to complete experiential learning coursework as part of their degree program. Many of our graduates continue on to supervisory, consultative, and leadership roles in the field post graduation, as well as opening their own clinical practices, specializing in under-represented areas of practice in the field, and/or pursuing further education in a doctoral program.

Job Summary

We seek innovative educators and scholars with demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, innovative and contemporary research, and a knowledge of the challenges confronting behavior analysts today. As a University committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, we seek candidates with a demonstrated ability and a commitment to working with individuals across a broad range of social and personal identities and perspectives. This position requires maintaining a teaching course load within the online master's program, advising students and student research, and contributing to the mission and initiatives of the department and university. Depending on the candidate's experience and professional goals, we offer several different possibilities for faculty rank and track.

Primary Responsibilities

The faculty member will teach courses in behavior analysis, including didactic and Practicum courses. The faculty member will advise and mentor students and supervise student research projects (i.e., thesis research), as required by the department and course. Faculty must participate in faculty meetings, department initiatives, curriculum development, and actively engage in service to the Simmons community and the department. In addition, tenure-track faculty will be required to conduct and publish scholarly research that adds to the department research portfolio, contributes to the mission of the department and university, and furthers the behavior analytic literature on the selected subject matter(s). Preference is given to scholarship focused on underrepresented areas of behavior analytic research and/or practice.


  • PhD in Behavior Analysis or closely related field required (ABD candidates may be considered);
  • Current Board Certified Behavior AnalystⓇ (BCBAⓇ or BCBA-DⓇ) in good standing;
  • Minimum of 3 years experience teaching behavior analytic coursework;
  • A record of professional presentations and research publications;
  • A record of securing external grant funding for research or potential to secure funding (e.g., for innovative research) [Required for tenure-track candidates only];
  • A record of supervising student research;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students across a broad range of social and personal identities and perspectives;
  • Evidence of organizational and problem-solving skills; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the university community.
