Job Description

The Automotive Technician I, under general supervision, maintains and repairs gasoline-engine vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine skilled tasks in the general maintenance and repair of automotive equipment including servicing, adjusting and repair of engines and all vehicle components.
  • Perform tune-ups on vehicles, repair and replace mechanical parts.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintain and conduct inventory, and operational reports utilizing Fleet Management Programs..



Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.



Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class “B” vehicle operator's license (Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement and air brakes endorsement) within 45 days of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain Texas State Inspections license within 60 days of employment.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certification in at least one related specialty



Other Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects.

  • Demonstrate the ability to operate several types of buses and vans to the extent of maneuvering safely through congested traffic conditions, adverse weather and road conditions. Exhibit a high degree of mental concentration and independent judgment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
