Job Description

The Event Coordinator and Gift Officer develops, coordinates and executes all fundraising and stewardship events (both in-person and virtual formats) for the HCC Foundation. These events include the Summer Swing Golf Tournament, Screech’s Night Owl 5K, President’s Circle Dinner (giving society recognition), Gratitude Breakfast (scholarship recognition), ATHENA Leadership Award Breakfast, Crab Crawl (scholarship fundraiser), and others as necessary.

Duties include, but are not limited to, working with the Office of Communications to develop marketing strategy and materials for each event; promoting events using Constant Contact and the social fundraising platform, GiveCampus; developing and managing event budgets; securing sponsorship dollars to meet targeted fundraising goals by soliciting existing and developing new donors; and managing volunteers and leading event committee meetings. This position must be visibly active in other community events and committees including, but not limited to, the Harford County Chamber of Commerce.

As gift officer, this position raises new dollars for the HCC Foundation through non-event activities, including face-to-face meetings with internal and external constituencies.

This is an exempt, professional staff position.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required; equivalent education, technical training or experience may be considered.

One to three years of related development experience is required.  Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to, experience coordinating and executing events to a successful outcome and tracking outcomes using metrics; demonstrated ability to build community relationships for fundraising; experience soliciting sponsorship gifts up to $10,000; experience developing event budgets; and experience developing a communication strategy, marketing materials, and web content for events. Experience coordinating volunteers, using an ERP system, and/or writing donor and student stories and press releases are desirable.  

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using MS Access or another database is required.  Applicants selected for an interview will be asked to provide a sample of marketing materials and an event budget demonstrating a successful outcome of an event they organized and managed.
