We are seeking a Director of Operations & Program Manager from the Metro DC area on a full-time basis.
The Director of Operations/Project Manager will oversee and help direct the planning, implementation, and tracking of the activities of the Center for the Advancement of STEM Leadership (CASL). In addition, the Director of Operations will work with the CASL leadership team to prepare Center related manuscripts, grant proposals, and associated deliverables.
The incumbent will work in concert with the CASL Executive Director to assure that day-to-day activities of the Center are executed in accordance with Project goals and objectives, and consistent with CASL’s overall budget. S/he will assume primary responsibility for assuring integration and communication between and among the various components of the Center; develop timelines, monitor, measure, and track progress towards goals; and collaborate with the leadership team to implement and CASL’s goals and objectives in accordance with CASL’s overall budget. The incumbent must be experienced in working in interdisciplinary and multi-organizational settings, particularly involving the STEM disciplines with diverse teams and possess experience with providing project management in research and/or higher education environments. In addition to a commitment to excellence in operations, the position requires leadership skills, a research background, and a commitment to the Center’s mission of substantially broadening the participation of students who have been marginalized from US STEM higher education.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a higher education setting, preferably an HBCU and/or at a minority serving higher education serving institution that has involved grants development, management or administration. In addition, s/he must have experience in at least one of the following areas: (a) research, scholarship, and/or creative activities in an academic discipline; (b) higher education teaching and learning; and/ or (c) research administration.
