In the case of alumni from more recent classes, the LGO will lay the foundation for future generosity to Amherst. Reporting to the Senior Major Gift Officer, Director of Leadership Giving, the LGO will be an integral member of the College's Major and Planned Giving, which is composed of the Senior Director of Major & Planned Gifts, LGOs, Senior Major Gift Officers, Development Assistants, and Gift Planning colleagues.

In addition, all advancement staff members are required to support and staff key events such as Reunion, Homecoming, and Family Weekend. These events may require occasional evening and weekend hours.
