The Department of Periodontics is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, faculty member for an Assistant Professor, appointment. This is a 12-month active service period full-time position that is open until filled with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2020. The Department of Periodontics is a collegial community of clinicians and researchers who are committed to advancing the science of periodontology, and known for the exceptional quality of its predoctoral and advanced education programs. The Department has dedicated and experienced faculty, both full and part-time, all of whom are committed to excellence in education, patient care, scholarly activity, and research. Faculty in the Department are active in dental school and university-wide affairs as well as in the American Association of Periodontics, the American Dental Education Association, and the American Association for Dental Research.
The University of Washington faculty engages in teaching, research and service. Responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching in both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral levels, research, service, continuing education, and clinical practice including IV sedation. The initial appointment of an Assistant Professor is typically for a period of three years. Renewal for a second three-year term will be considered by the department and School during spring quarter of the second year. A mandatory review for tenure and promotion must be conducted in the sixth year of appointment. Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant.
