Who We Are
The Prevention Research Center was established in 2014 as a campus-wide, trans-disciplinary center committed to studying the development, implementation and evaluation of effective and sustainable intervention programs that promote individual and family health and wellness throughout the lifespan. The center programs also aim to reduce risk for problems such as substance misuse, physical and mental health issues, violence and problems of aging.
The center is founded in the growing discipline of Prevention Science and is designed to help coordinate prevention research activities within the College of Health and Human Sciences and to promote prevention research across the CSU campus. It also serves as a bridge between CSU faculty, community practitioners and organizations, and policy makers to help translate the most current scientific advances into practice.
