The Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering serves on a 12-month appointment with responsibility for developing and implementing a robust strategic plan focused on establishing a world-class department. The Chair’s primary and central task is to improve all four components of the academic mission: educational excellence, research and scholarship, student success, and service. Chairs are appointed for 3-year terms, renewable upon favorable review and recommendation. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide leadership and advocacy for the Department’s educational and research mission;
Manage resources transparently and in a timely manner;
Recruit, retain, mentor, and engage faculty;
Supervise department staff;
Complete faculty and staff performance evaluations;
Engage in corrective action to address student, faculty and staff concerns;
