Job Description: The University at Albany, SUNY, seeks three full-time lecturers for the Program in Writing and Critical Inquiry to begin Fall Semester 2020. Responsibilities include a standard teaching load (typically, three courses per semester) and duties related to the development of the first-year writing program as assigned by the program director. Lecturers teach the Seminar in Writing and Critical Inquiry (WCI), a required general education course designed to introduce students to college-level critical inquiry with an emphasis on the intensive practice of writing in academic and other contexts. WCI courses are capped at 19 students per section. It is expected that one of the three persons hired will teach primarily or exclusively the special WCI sections designed for international students and other second-language learners. WCI Lecturers join a vibrant community of active teacher-scholars who participate in various components of the WCI program, including a Peer Writing Mentor Program, a writing contest, an annual film festival, program assessment, and related activities. This position is a three-year renewable 10-month appointment.
