Position Summary:

The DLLR grant funded Assessment and Data Assistant (ADA) is responsible for administering, scoring, and interpreting student assessments used for placement in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED classes. Based on results of assessments and intake information, the assistant refers students to classes or resources within the college and the community. The ADA works with the DLLR grant funded Intake/Assessment Specialist (IAS) and Management Information Systems (MIS) Specialist to ensure accuracy of data entered into the LACES database.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer assessments to potential ABE and GED students to determine placement in appropriate level of class.
  • Assist in the placement of students in appropriate class levels.
  • Maintain database and files with student assessment, demographics and intake information
  • Provide MIS Specialist with student information required for data entry.
  • Assist IAS and MIS with the collection and preparation of data required by the DLLR grant.
  • Manage wait lists.
  • Monitor student attendance and encourage retention
  • Follow up with students who miss assessment sessions or who do not report to assigned classes.
  • Provide information to students and instructors regarding services/resources available through the college or community agencies when appropriate
  • Attend state training
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience administering standardized educational assessments required.
  • Experience working with the ABE and GED student population in an educational setting.
  • One year of experience with data collection and general office duties required; some experience in preparing reports.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
  • Proven ability to maintain records and organize information.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and with attention to details and deadlines.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the county and work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Experience with TABE, CASAS, GED Ready
  • Experience administering online assessments
  • Experience using Colleague/Datatel
  • Experience with the LACES database
  • Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act
  • Bi-lingual

Hours Per Week: 40

Work Schedule: M-F/S
