MICROBIOLOGY AND ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
ADJUNCT INSTRUCTORS
FALL SEMESTER RUNS 8/27/18 – 12/15/18

BIOL 132 – Anatomy & Physiology I with lab (three sections open)
Days/Times: TR 8:00 AM-9:15 AM; or TR 11:00 AM-12:15 (lecture) and R 1:00 PM-2:50 PM or R 8:00 AM-9:50 AM or R 10:30 AM-12:20 PM (lab)

Course Description: This four-credit lecture/lab course is designed for first-year students preparing for a career in the medical field. Emphasis will be on anatomical terminology, fundamental biochemistry, and structure and function of the following components of the human body: cells, tissues, integument, skeleton, joints, muscles, and nervous system. The laboratory portion of the course complements and reinforces the lecture through the use of additional resources, focusing on closer examination of the body’s components.
Qualifications: MS in Biology; at least two years successfully teaching college-level anatomy and physiology lecture and lab.

BIOL 138 – Anatomy & Physiology II with lab (one section open)
Days/Times: MW 1:30 PM - 2:45 PM (lecture) and W 10:30 AM-12:20 PM (lab)

Course Description: This four-credit lecture/lab course is a continuation of A&P I, building on many of the fundamentals. Emphasis will be on the structure and function of the following organ systems in the human body: nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive. The laboratory portion complements and reinforces the lecture, focusing on closer examination of these system structures via live and virtual dissection, and demonstration of their functions via simple testing. Anatomical models, prepared microscope slides, and online resources may also be incorporated.
Qualifications: MS in Biology; at least two years successfully teaching college-level anatomy and physiology lecture and lab.

BIOL 250 - Microbiology with Lab (one section open)
Days/Times: MW 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM (lecture) and MW 4:30 PM - 6:20 PM (lab)

Course Description: This five credit course studies the principles and techniques utilized in microbiology. Consideration will be given to microbial structure, growth, physiology and the reaction of microorganisms to their physical, chemical and biological environment. Laboratory emphasis will be placed on development of proper laboratory techniques and the identification of microorganisms.

Qualifications: PhD or MS in Microbiology, or Biology with strong course work/experience in microbiology and two full years' minimum college teaching experience.
