Lecturer in Kinesiology

The Department of Health & Kinesiology at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a non-tenure-track lecturer position in the area of kinesiology or exercise science. This is a 9-month appointment with the possibility of additional summer teaching. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Responsibilities/Duties: Teach undergraduate courses in health, wellness, exercise science, and related topics; coordinate the Department of Health & Kinesiology’s Lifespan Wellness Research Center (LWRC); serve the University, profession and community; and be a collegial member of the Department. The LWRC at UT Tyler provides personal training, fitness screening/ assessment, group exercise classes, and related programs for students, staff, faculty, and community groups.
Required Qualifications: Earned Master’s in kinesiology, exercise science, or closely related discipline, preferably with teaching experience at the collegiate level. The ideal candidate would have experience with both face-to-face and distance education formats (e.g., hybrid and/or online), excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, and a willingness and ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues and community members. Experience with personal training, exercise prescription, or working with clinical populations is preferred.
General Information: The Department of Health and Kinesiology, within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, serves over 500 majors in three undergraduate and two Master’s degree programs: B.S.-Health Sciences, B.S.-Kinesiology (which includes options of athletic training and physical education teacher certification), B.A.-Wellness, M.S.-Health Sciences, and M.S.-Kinesiology (with online option). The University of Texas at Tyler is an academic component of The University of Texas System, which offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to over 10,000 students. UT Tyler’s main campus is located on 206 acres in pine and hardwood forests of beautiful East Texas. Additional campuses are in Longview and Palestine. A sister institution, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (also known as UT Health East Texas), is located 10 miles from UT Tyler’s main campus.
Salary: Negotiable and commensurate with qualifications. A nine-month contract is standard. Additional summer employment is probable.
