DCCCD seeks to hire a Cisco network engineer with shared responsibility for large enterprise network consisting of more than 2,500 switches and routers and more than 1,500 access points. This position is responsible for deploying primarily Cisco equipment to existing build specs and will also play a role periodically reviewing the spec. Requires advanced troubleshooting skills including packet trace-level debugging and analysis through layer 3 (VTP, VLAN), Cisco CLI and a working knowledge of network topology and structured cabling is expected; network performance/monitoring/alerting tools are helpful, with SolarWinds and NetFlow/IPFIX experience beneficial and CCNA and post CCNA-level experience is desirable.
Works with complex administrative/educational support applications and network activities. Responsible for the district-wide network operating system and network system software. Serves as a high-level technical resource to support staff district-wide.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Requires advanced knowledge of all facets of complex network system environments, such as Unix, Novell NetWare, and/or Windows Servers. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of external professionals and in-house staff from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of experience in a complex network system environment, or Associate’s degree plus six years’ experience in a complex network system environment or graduation from high school or equivalent plus eight years of experience in a complex network system environment (a combination of relevant college course work/training plus a minimum of two years of relevant work experience may be used to total eight years’ experience).
