The appointee will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in fluid mechanics and water engineering. Research interests could include environmental fluid mechanics, groundwater mechanics and sustainability.

As a Lecturer, the appointee will need a Ph.D. with evidence of strength in research, have teaching experience and/or a demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.

The appointee will need to demonstrate a record of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and an ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students.

The ability to teach in another area of the Department's teaching programme (e.g. mathematical modelling, engineering design) will be an advantage. You will be encouraged to develop a strong research programme, and will be expected to collaborate with other academics in the Department's teaching and research spectrum.

The Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering is a strong and forward-looking department dedicated to excellence in research and teaching. The Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering offers two undergraduate degrees (civil engineering and natural resources engineering) where a common core (80% of the credits) provides a broad overview of key disciplines in civil engineering. The Department also offers Masters and Ph.D. degrees to which the appointee would be expected to contribute. In particular, the department is starting a new Masters in Civil Engineering program where there are exciting opportunities for the appointee to develop specialist master courses in their area(s) of expertise.
