Conduct periodic environmental scans and prepare a report on trends in higher education to inform strategic planning initiatives. In addition, the successful candidate will develop and/or assist other team members of the Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment (OIRPA) in developing data/statistical models and cost studies in support of administrative decision making; creating spreadsheets and databases to support Managing for Results (MFR) report to the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and Dashboard Indicators for reporting to the University System of Maryland (USM); and coordinate the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and Work group meetings to review planning issues/developments and assist in completing various institutional/external surveys (e.g., U.S. News, National Science Foundation, etc.) Perform other duties as required to support others needs of the office.
Doctoral degrees in Social Sciences/Policy Planning or related field required.
Must have experience in using personal computers including database, spreadsheets, and word processing software. Experience performing complex analytical/statistical research analyses, modeling, and associated report preparations required. Must demonstrate working knowledge of statistics. Experience working in an academic environment and working with technical and functional aspects of People Soft would be an advantage. Skills and knowledge in the use of statistical packages(SPSS, SAS, etc.) and Access Database and Excel applications required. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills to include written skills. Demonstrated ability to utilize discretion in releasing confidential information required. Must be self-motivated and have strong organization skills.
