COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $51,711 to $80,979, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $108,490. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Appointment to this position is subject to availability of SSSP funds. Salary schedule subject to change.

Representative Duties:
Work with students to develop comprehensive individualized educational program plans. E

Assist in the organization and implementation of matriculation activities, such as orientation, assessment, and progress follow-up including Early Alert. E

Participate in developing and implementing strategies and materials to increase student retention and transfer rates. E

Select and interpret educational, vocational and personal assessment instruments.

Participate in the articulation process. E

Participate in all levels of program review related to counseling and matriculation services.

Facilitate group counseling sessions. E

Present workshops on a variety of topics. E

Teach guidance classes in career planning re-entry, and academic success. E

Outreach/liaison to local high schools and community agencies. E

Plan develop or implement programs related to counseling. E

Participate in program and curriculum development. E

Provide personal, academic, career and vocational counseling services to a diverse student population, including veterans and athletes. E

Counsel/advise students, teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned. E

Comply with District policies and procedures in the performance of all duties. E

Participate in staff development activities. E

Serve on area and college-wide committees as necessary to support and enrich college programs, activities and initiatives. E

Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students and colleagues. E

Promote the success of diverse student population. E

Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. E


Job Requirements

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent.

(NOTE: A bachelor's degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Office, classroom, lab and/or online environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations.
