THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in sociology beginning August 16, 2018. We are seeking a candidate who has completed all coursework and data collection for a Ph.D. in Sociology at the time of application. Candidates must be able to articulate a research agenda that demonstrates a commitment to social justice and who has the ability to teach at the undergraduate level quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and social inequality and must have a research focus in one of the following areas of social inequality within the areas of medical sociology or environmental sociology. Candidates must also be interested in working within interdisciplinary collaborations. Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Sociology; Ability to complement the department's focus on social justice; Expressed willingness to engage with Catholic and Marianist educational values; Demonstrated successful teaching in one or more of the following areas: research methods, data analysis, social inequality; Demonstrated commitment to socially and culturally diverse communities; Experience working with interdisciplinary collaborations; Commitment to a student-centered teaching philosophy; Ability to work as a team member toward shared goals; Demonstrated effective classroom management skills; Demonstrated effective presentation skills; Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills; Articulated interest in working with community based programs related to social inequality.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of all coursework and data collection for a Ph.D. in Sociology at the time of application; Ability to articulate a research agenda that demonstrates a commitment to social justice; Research focus in one of the following areas of social inequality: medical sociology or environmental sociology; Ability to teach at the undergraduate level quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and social inequality; Interest in working within interdisciplinary collaborations.
