The Queens College Graduate School of Library & Information Studies (GSLIS) is part of the City University of New York (CUNY).The GSLIS is the only publicly supported American Library Association accredited school of library and information studies in the metropolitan New York City area.

Administratively the GSLIS is placed within the College’s Social Science Division and the Chair/Director reports directly to the Dean of that division.

The GSLIS offers a broad curriculum. In addition to the M.L.S. degree it offers a 30 credit Certificate of Post-Masters Studies in Librarianship, a Certificate in Archives and Preservation of Cultural Materials, a Certificate in Children’s and Young Adult Services in Public Libraries, and three programs for the preparation of New York State certified School Library Media Specialists, and a dual master degree program (jointly offered with the History department) in Library Science and History (MLS/MA). The GSLIS has a large and highly diverse student body, only 10% of whom are full-time.
