The goal of the College of Nursing is to advance nursing knowledge, practice and health care locally, nationally and internationally and to improve human health by generating scientific innovations in education, research, and practice. The College educates nurses at the under-graduate and graduate levels with the overarching goal of helping to shape the future of the nursing profession. Undergraduate students have achieved very high success rates in their national NCLEX-RN examinations.
As one of Canadaís U15 universities the University of Manitoba currently holds 49 Canada Research Chairs and is home to or a partner in 39 research centres, institutes and shared facilities that foster collaborative research and scholarship. The university has a total enrolment of approximately 29,000 students in 16 faculties.
Reporting to Vice-Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, you will challenge students to develop as independent learners, problem solvers and innovators. You and your team will inspire minds through innovative and quality teaching, drive discovery and insight through excellence in research, scholarly work and other creative activities, create pathways to Indigenous achievement, build community that creates an outstanding learning and working environment, forge connections to foster high impact community engagement. You will expand inter-professional education and research in a dynamic partnership of professional colleges. You are a collaborator in the inter-professional community of practitioners and regulators of healthcare. As well as the academic leader and spokesperson, you will also excel in its operational stewardship through allocation of resources, strategic planning, fundraising and progressive development of your management group, teachers and support teams.
You have a background in research, curriculum development and institutional leadership along with your PhD in Nursing (and eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba) you are qualified to hold a tenured position as an Associate Professor/ Professor over a five (5) year term.
