Job Description

The College of Southern Maryland, a regional community college is accepting applications for a Student Accounts Specialist-Continuing Education/Workforce Development (CEWD).  The successful candidate will have the responsibility of contact for third party deferred payment plans, financial aid refunds, petty cash, and credit student accounts.  The position works closely with the student, Registrar, Financial Assistance, Admissions and other campus representatives to ensure a high level of customer service. 


The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the college's staff and students. The final candidate for this position will be subject to the following background checks: Criminal History Check and Credit Background Check.

Job Requirements

Required Skills

  • Associates Degree required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in higher education or customer service environment.
  • At least two years’ experience in data entry, cash handling and customer service.
  • Preferred experience with Quick Books, Colleague, Microsoft Office Suite, GroupWise and Image Now.
  • Superior interpersonal skills required dealing with the general public, outside agencies and peers in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze student accounts, billing, payments and registration billing adjustments.
  • Ability to work independently with professional integrity and discretion.
  • May be subject to criminal and credit background investigation.
