Description/Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Health Professions, the Clinical Coordinator will assist the Program Director with teaching and coordination of the didactic, lab, clinical and/or field internship instruction in the paramedicine programs.  Responsibilities include the organization, administration, continuous review and revision, planning for and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the Paramedicine Program.

Through development of locations for clinical and field experiences the Clinical Coordinator ensures that each student is provided with sufficient and appropriate opportunity to gain experience in providing care for actual patients in various hospital and prehospital settings.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain current  and active Maryland certification or license at an equal or higher level of professional training than the Emergency Medical Services course(s) which they are assigned to teach
  • Instruction and coordination of clinical and field experiences in the Emergency Medical Services Program
  • Participate in student evaluation and advisement
  • Assist in maintenance of the EMS patient care skills lab
  • Assist in the development of program admission criteria
  • Assist in the preparation and revision of curriculum materials

Job Requirements

  • Associates degree or higher in any discipline
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of the national EMS education standards and content
  • Current and active national certification and Maryland licensed Paramedic
  • At least three years of effective teaching experience within a paramedic, advanced EMT course or other appropriate healthcare-related field
  • Four years of experience providing direct patient care in emergency medical services

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline

MICRB [Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board]  certification
