The Maryland Department of the Environment in Baltimore is looking to hire a Natural Resource Planner under contract with the College of Southern Maryland.
The Natural Resource Planner will perform as a project manager and assist other staff on projects related to best available technologies for removing nitrogen from onsite sewage disposal systems and perform planning activities related to reducing, reporting and tracking the amount of nitrogen discharged from on-site sewage disposal systems. Responsibilities will include: performing site inspections to verify appropriate design and installation of nutrient reducing onsite sewage disposal systems; maintaining and updating databases for tracking all aspects of onsite sewage disposal; analyzing trends and data and prepare reports on the contribution of onsite sewage disposal systems to nutrients discharged to waters of the State; providing oversight, training and guidance to local health department, service providers, manufacturers and other stake holders on all aspects of nutrient reducing onsite sewage disposal systems; and evaluating the effectiveness of existing and prospective technologies for reducing the pollution from onsite sewage disposal systems.
This position requires some travel required for field inspections in Maryland. Employee may be assigned duties which require the operation of their motor vehicle. Employee will be reimbursed for mileage expenses at the college rate.
The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required as some weekends and evenings may be necessary.
