Director of Business and Auxiliary Services
Clark University seeks a well-rounded professional for the position of Director of Business & Auxiliary Services. Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, the position is responsible for the oversight and management of a variety of the University’s business functions including dining services, the campus store, online purchasing system, risk management, insurance, and rental properties.
The director supervises the operations of Clark’s various auxiliary services and works directly with appropriate contractors, vendors, and department heads to ensure service and financial expectations are met. Auxiliary services include Dining Services, the Campus Store/Online Virtual Bookstore, OneCard Office, rental property management and miscellaneous services such as residence hall vending and laundry contracts.
In Clark’s de-centralized purchasing environment, the director functions as a resource to the campus community by assist them with purchasing-related questions, vendor selection, bidding processes, and contract review. The director is also the primary administrator of the University’s eProcurement system and provides support to end users. The director works closely with the Financial Services department to develop procurement-related policies, processes, and procedures.
Insurance responsibilities include managing and evaluating the University’s insurance portfolio (excluding employee benefits) as well as identifying and analyzing risk exposures to procure appropriate and cost effective insurance protection for the University. The director submits and manages insurance claims.
Functioning as the University’s risk manager, the Director of Business & Auxiliary Services develops, implements, and updates loss control and safety awareness programs; manages the University’s emergency notification system; provides guidance to campus constituencies regarding issues of safety and risk; and chairs several risk and compliance related committees.

The successful candidate will hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree and have a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience, preferably in higher education or other non-profit environment.
Candidates should possess strong knowledge of budgeting, financial management, effective business practices, and risk management, as well as supervisory experience. Strong written and oral communications skills, excellent analytical and financial management skills, and proficiency with financial applications such as Microsoft Excel are required.
