FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Business and Information Systems Department of Bronx Community College is seeking a full-time generalist to teach a broad range of Accounting and Business courses including but not limited to: Principles of Accounting I & II, Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Business Mathematics.

The successful candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise; share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory and other functions; advise and mentor students; engage in scholarly activities and grant writing; and demonstrate collegiality and ability to work with others. Participation in curriculum development and assessment activities as well as other college initiatives is expected.
 


Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

For Instructor:
Master’s degree in Accounting or equivalent and active progress towards a Doctorate or equivalent or active progress towards a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license, and related business experience required. Persons appointed in the instructor title are only eligible for five (5) annual consecutive appointments. Appointments to a professorial title subsequent to service as an instructor will only be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professorial ranks as stated below.

For Assistant Professor:
Doctorate in Accounting or equivalent, or Master’s Degree and Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license, and related business experience required.

For all applicants:
Must possess strong pedagogical skills, scholarship or achievement along with the ability to teach successfully. A record of scholarly and professional achievement preferred. Must be able to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Minimum of 2 to 3 years' college teaching experience required. Experience utilizing instructional technology and web applications preferred. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required.

COMPENSATION

Instructor: $43,503 - $72,065; commensurate with experience and qualifications
Assistant Professor: $47,340 - $81,855; commensurate with experience and qualifications
(Based on new contract rates effective 4/20/17)
