Full time Non-Tenure-Track Faculty in Health Sciences
The Department of Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies at Assumption College invites applications for a full time, non-tenure-track position beginning August 2017.
Assumption College is a residential, comprehensive, Catholic college, sponsored by the Augustinians of the Assumption, incorporating liberal education and pre-professional studies.
In addition to offering a major in Health Sciences, the Department of Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies offers an undergraduate degree in Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies with concentrations in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical and Occupational Therapy and Working with Youth in the Community.
The HSRS Department also houses masterís degree programs in Rehabilitation Counseling (online and traditional), a masterís degree in Health Advocacy and a School Counseling Program.
Applicants should expect to teach in the undergraduate Health Sciences program with possible teaching in the undergraduate Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies program.
The Health Sciences major is a new program at Assumption College and extends from an interdisciplinary collaboration between our Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies and Natural Sciences departments. The program includes studies in disability and illness, biological sciences and math as well as a strong health care education component.
We seek a candidate that can contribute to the health care education component of the program but also work with the other constituents in a collaborative academic endeavor.
Applicants must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the College as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption College.
An earned doctorate degree preferred (Masters or A.B.D. considered) with prior teaching experience in public health education.
The successful candidate will be able to teach several courses from among the following: Introduction to Public Health, Evidence-based Health Care, Principles of Health Education and Promotion, Global Health, Systems Approach to Health Care in America, Epidemiology, and/or Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Care. Teaching a 4/3 course load and advising students within a Health Sciences undergraduate program will be required.
Additional responsibilities may include serving to promote the Health Sciences program from within and outside the college.
The successful candidate will join an energetic and collegial department that is passionate about social justice and is growing a new Health Sciences major with a strong Public Health component.
- MPH degree or similar health care industry related degree
- Higher education teaching experience
- Earned doctorate degree (or A.B.D)
- Experience teaching in public health, health policy, and/or health care systems at the university/college level
- Experience working in health systems preferred
- Membership and active participation in public health and community health education professional organizations.
