Chair of Nursing
Carilion Clinic - Jefferson College of Health Sciences
Supports Carilion's and Jefferson College of Health Science's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Organizes, administers, implements, and evaluates the overall effectiveness of their departments. Assists program directors in the department to conduct periodic reviews of the effectiveness of their academic programs as per relevant accreditation body. Provides leadership within the department and facilitates communication, clarification and implementation of College policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education: Graduate degree in nursing. Earned doctoral degree in nursing, health or education-related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
Experience: 5 years clinical or didactic teaching and two years clinical experience or as required by appropriate program accreditation.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Previous administrative and/or supervisory experience to include 2 years as an administrator in higher education. Strong oral and written communication skills. Understanding of educational principles and methodologies. Outstanding leadership and management abilities. Effective in budget planning, implementation, execution and evaluation as well as strategic, operational and contingency planning.
