The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applications for the position of Chief of Pathology at Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC, one of the four academic affiliates of the University of Pittsburgh.

It is our centerpiece women's care facility where all breast, gynecologic and perinatal specimens and gynecologic cytology is received and processed for diagnostic purposes. The division contains 15 faculty members with different areas of subspecialty interest. Clinical research focuses on immunohistochemistry, image analysis, and molecular approaches to gynecologic and breast malignancies.

The Department has close translational collaborations with basic science researchers at the adjacent Magee Women’s Hospital Research Institute with its active programs in stem cell disease, eclampsia, ovarian cancer, and hormonal and molecular approaches to mammary carcinoma. Magee Women’s Hospital also houses the Magee Genetics Laboratories, providing molecular biology and next generation sequence support for germline diagnostics and maternal-fetal medicine.

There are opportunities to support basic research at Magee Women’s Hospital through the development of peer-reviewed funded research programs and collaborative opportunities with faculty engaged in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, etc.

Job Requirements

Teaching opportunities are also available with medical students in the School of Medicine, gynecologic and breast pathology fellows, and pathology residents. Academic rank is commensurate with prior academic achievements and expertise.
