Job Description

Faculty Director – Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology Program
University of California, Berkeley

The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a full-time Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment or Lecturer with Security of Employment (50% Haas School of Business and 50% in the College of Engineering with the specific department to be determined), for a Faculty Director to support the rapidly growing teaching needs for the Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology program (M.E.T.) The anticipated start date is January 1, 2019.

M.E.T. is a program that enables a small number of very talented students to simultaneously pursue a B.S. in Engineering in one of three departments in the College of Engineering (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Industrial Engineering & Operations Research, and Mechanical Engineering), and a B.S. in Business from the Haas School of Business. The program provides the support necessary to ensure that students can complete both degrees in four years, and also provides integrated program-specific coursework, mentoring, guidance, and access to internship opportunities, as well as a variety of co-curricular activities that collectively encourage the students in the program to form a tight-knit, supportive community. Additional information can be found at http://met.berkeley.edu/.

The Faculty Director will develop and teach two to four M.E.T.-specific core courses each year that will integrate technology and business entrepreneurship. S/he will be expected to engage actively in strategic planning, corporate outreach, and fundraising for the program, in addition to assuming responsibility for the design and management of the curriculum and co- curricular experience of the M.E.T. students.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values in the College of Engineering and the Haas School of Business. Our excellence can only be fully realized by faculty, students, and staff who share our commitment to these values. Successful candidates for our faculty positions will demonstrate evidence of a commitment to equity and inclusion. Details of this commitment, and examples of ongoing programming, are available at https://engineering.berkeley.edu/diversity, http://haas.berkeley.edu/equity/, and http://newsroom.haas.berkeley.edu/roundtable-campus-employers-opens-dialogue-diversity-inclusion/.
