Associate Dean of Academic Operations
Harford Community College

The Associate Dean serves as the main point of contact for the Office of Academic Affairs and is responsible for executing the Vice President for Academic Affair’s vision via the development, implementation, and monitoring of academic practices, procedures, and programming that support the College’s mission, vision, and values. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), the Associate Dean manages the daily operations of the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), directing communication and leading the progress on College-, President-, and/or VPAA-initiated projects and special initiatives.

Duties include, but are not limited to, serving as primary contact for Academic Affairs committees such as Curriculum Work Group and Learning Assessment Committee, including drafting charges and assignments based on the VPAA's vision, and facilitating communication between committee chairs and the Vice President; maintaining collaborative relationships with institutional stakeholders for projects and initiatives that foster a student-driven academic experience; overseeing the budget development process and managing the division's budget; partnering with Deans and Department Coordinators to report faculty-related issues; overseeing the academic promotion and tenure process; and coordinating and liaising with other College divisions and departments to continuously analyze and optimize procedures and processes to respond to current and evolving higher educational trends.

Job Requirements

A master's degree and one to three years of relevant academic operations experience are required. Three years of full-time teaching experience preferred; equivalent adjunct experience may be considered.

The ideal applicant will have experience in the areas of budget development and management; supervising staff; working with academic committees; and planning and executing projects and special initiatives. Other requirements include familiarity with class scheduling processes and software; and knowledge of strategic enrollment practices.

Excellent communication skills and organizational skills, and proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment are also required.
