Facilities Operations Project Specialist

This position offers an exciting opportunity to participate in an array of financial management duties for both the Financial Affairs and Operation Departments of the College. The Facilities Operations Project Specialist will work with the Vice President of Operations and the Business Office Manager by planning, capturing and reporting both existing and future capital projects to upper management.

Examples of day-to-day duties include:

  • Prepares cost estimates, budgets, project timelines and progress tracking of Capital projects
  • Organize, prepare, enter, copy and submit all paperwork with regard to department purchases via the A/P system of purchase orders and vouchers
  • Facilitates bids for large purchases or contracts
  • Leads regular status updates of all Capital projects to management throughout the year
  • Active member of the Capital Planning Committee
  • Assists with capitalizing and depreciating fixed asset purchases within our accounting software
  • Other duties as assigned by both the VP of Operations and Business Office Manager

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications: We seek individuals with a bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in Accounting or Project Management. Previous work experience in either higher education or a not-for-profit is a plus. Project Management and Capital planning experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills; Familiarity with common office procedures, multitasking and ability to meet deadlines; Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Excel and Word; High attention to detail; Ability to work well independently and with others in a team environment; Understanding of fixed asset Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
