Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new 270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. The University also operates in its historic downtown facilities, offering cultural events, graduate classes, and continuing education. Student housing is available in New Cairo. Among the premier universities in the region, AUC is Middle States accredited; its Engineering programs are accredited by ABET, its Chemistry program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry, and the School of Business is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. The AUC Libraries contain the largest English-language research collection in the region and are an active and integral part of the University's pursuit of excellence in all academic and scholarly programs. The Department of Economics has anticipated openings for faculty positions at the level of Assistant/Associate/Professor for non-tenure track fixed-term appointments, some can begin in Spring 2019 and others in Fall 2019. Areas of specialization may include one or more of the following: macroeconomics, trade, public finance, money and banking, mathematical economics, financial economics/econometrics, health/development economics and policy analysis (with applications to Egypt and Middle East). Strong practical quantitative and research methodology skills will be highly valued. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, engage actively in research and supervise masters' theses. All faculty must be willing to teach introductory courses.
Applicants must have a PhD in Economics or closely related field, preferably with a record of an active research agenda, teaching experience, thesis supervision and academic service.
