Pensacola State College is located on Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast. Pensacola State College is one of 28 public colleges in the Florida College System committed to affordable, open access to educational opportunities. The College offers baccalaureate and associate degrees, career oriented certificates, developmental education, adult education, GED preparation, and standard high school diplomas.

The Human Resources Office is accepting applications for the following administrative position in the Business Department: DEPARTMENT HEAD, BUSINESS - JOB #2596 The Department Head, Business is a 12-month administrative position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2018, though a different start date may be negotiated. The Department Head will manage day-to-day operations of the department, supervise all programs offered by the department, develop course schedules, make faculty course assignments, supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff, manage the departmental budget, advise students, review and update departmental curricula, hire and supervise adjunct faculty, work toward the resolution of student complaints, lead the process to pursue or maintain the accreditation of programs, serve on College committees, oversee planning and assessment activities, and perform other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Dean, Baccalaureate Studies and Academic Support.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree in business, management, or a related field, and four years related full-time post-secondary teaching or administrative experience are required. Must be qualified by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to teach in one of the department’s disciplines. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctoral degree in business, management, or a related field.

SALARY RANGE: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable. However, the college does not generally hire at the top of the range.)

FRINGE BENEFITS: The value of the benefits package provided by the College is nearly 39% of the base salary and includes major medical insurance, life insurance and Florida retirement contributions. Supplemental life, dental, vision, and disability insurance are available at group rates. Other benefits offered include participation in the wellness program, tuition waivers, educational opportunities, and paid sick and annual leave.
