Full Time Nursing Faculty Position
Nursing Department

RESPONSIBILITIES: SMCC is seeking one full-time faculty member to teach general nursing content across the curriculum and multiple sites; South Portland, Midcoast at Brunswick and SMCC Nursing at York Community in Wells, ME.

Responsibilities include teaching 15 contact hours or the equivalent each semester of didactic content and clinical supervision of associate-degree nursing students in a variety of settings and /or provide oversight and management of the clinical activities of adjunct clinical faculty as well as advisor to full-time clinical faculty. This position serves as a support and resource for clinical faculty. The clinical advisor works closely with the department chair to orient clinical faculty and clinical faculty directly at the clinical site to consult on clinical instruction and supervision of nursing students. This position is a liaison between the clinical site and the nursing department in support of the student educational experience. This position may, at times, supervise clinical preceptorships.

Responsible for developing, modifying, and assessing curricula; continuously improving teaching methodology and student-centered learning; staying current in the field; advising and maintaining scheduled availability to students; participating with other faculty in developing and managing courses, curricula and academic policy; participating in department and college activities, including committee work and college service; involvement with AACN accreditation, and other professional duties related to the position that contribute to the success of the college.

Job Requirements


  • Master's degree in Nursing (or matriculation in MSN program) and current Maine RN licensure
  • Experience with assessment


  • Current clinical experience
  • College teaching experience

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $58,312 - $61,863
