Job Description

Accounting Professor
Job Opening for Fall 2018
Webber International University

Job Title: Assistant Professor of Accounting
Position Type: Full Time Faculty
Work Location: Babson Park, Florida
Posting Date: 2-12-2018
Closing Date: Open Until Filled
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experiences

About the Position

This full time Faculty member will teach a variety of Accounting courses in the undergraduate programs across the traditional face-to-face, MBA evening, adult completion night and on-line classes as the course rotations require. The ordinary full-time faculty teaching load is 15 hours per semester and 3 hours in one of the summer sessions or 3 hours that are accomplished over 12 weeks. Each member of the Faculty is expected to have a minimum of 10 office hours per week during the Fall and Spring terms. The Faculty member will be assigned to one or more committees and will be expected to be an active participant.

About the University

Established in 1927 as one of the nation’s first business schools for women (now coed for decades) and the first not-for-profit school chartered under Florida’s educational and charitable laws, Webber International University now hosts men and women from some 45 different nations. We are a SACS accredited university.

Webber offers degrees at the associate’s and bachelor’s levels (Associate’s or Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with majors in: Accounting, Computer Information Systems Management, Criminal Justice Management, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, Management, Sport Business Management, and a Bachelor of Science in General Business Studies), and at the master’s level (MBA, MBA with an emphasis in Accounting, Criminal Justice Management, Sport Business Management, and International Business, respectively).

Webber International University is a teaching school. While there are expectations of scholarship and we have a well published Faculty, we are not a research institution and do not support research with either funding or release time. We provide some clerical support in the form of undergraduate work-studies, but we do not use teaching assistants. Our Faculty actually teach. Faculty interact with students outside the classroom and engage in professional development as well as become involved in the University and the local community.

Webber is a collegial, supportive campus. While Faculty members are appointed for one year terms at the discretion of the Chief Academic Officer (we do not grant tenure), several of our full-time Faculty have served greater than 20 years. While Webber pay is similar to that at other not-for-profit, tuition driven affordable colleges, our benefit package is fairly good.

Webber International University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to provide equal employment opportunity to all persons regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
