Indiana State University invites applications and nominations for the Chairperson of the Department of Applied Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Services. Reporting to the Dean, the Chairperson leads and administers a diverse and growing Department of Applied Health Sciences. The successful candidate will have a record of relevant leadership experience, excellent teaching, documented scholarship, and a commitment to community engagement.
The Chairperson will be eligible for tenure and rank of associate or full professor with a 12-month appointment.
The Chairperson represents and advocates for the interests of students, faculty, and staff in the department to the Dean, the University, and communities of interest. The Chair leads the department through critical decisions involving personnel, resource allocation, and handles the daily operations of the department. Supporting the professional development of students, faculty, and staff to ensure success is critical. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, be able to foster a civil and collaborative work environment, and advance the strategic plan of the College and University.

The Chairperson will lead a growing department with five undergraduate, two masters programs, and one doctoral program. The Chair will lead and engage faculty, students, alumni, and the community to promote the mission of the department.
There are 16 full time faculty, 2 full time staff, 480 undergraduate students, 56 master students, and 19 doctoral students.
Indiana State University is located in Southwest Indiana, Indiana State University is conveniently located 10 minutes from 1-70 making trips to Indianapolis, St. Louis, Chicago and Cincinnati easily accessible. Indiana State University sits in the central part of downtown Terre Haute making the commute to shopping, food, housing, arts, sports and entertainment within 15 minutes to campus
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Human Development and Family Studies, Nutrition and Dietetics, or related fields; relevant leadership experience; accreditation/certification experience; evidence of excellent teaching, a scholarly record, and professional achievement and service commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full professor.
