Assistant Professor position in Statistics, focused on Data Science
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Statistics, focused on Data Science. The position starts from July 1, 2018.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has a very active research profile and all of the faculty members hired within the past decade hold external grants. The department also has a number of well-developed strong Statistics programs: an undergraduate concentration in Statistics program, an undergraduate Statistics co-op program, and a Master of Science in Statistics program. In addition, a new BSc program in Data Science and Analytics is upcoming soon. The successful candidate should hold a recent PhD (within three years) with an advanced background in data science, computational statistics, and applied statistics. A strong record of independent research which will attract external funding, ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses in Statistics and data science, and commitment to supervise graduate students in Statistics, will be expected.
Applicants will also be expected to provide evidence of leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for playing a leading role in the development of an undergraduate program in Data Science and Analytics (which will be launched soon) and an international MSc program in Applied Statistics.
