The Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing at California State University Los Angeles, is looking for an innovative and enthusiastic faculty member to join our team starting in August 2018.


The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

The successful candidate may be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of their expertise and/or other courses in the department in consultation with the Department Director. Primary professional responsibilities are teaching, Scholarship, and committee participation.

The Department:

The Patricia A. Chin of Nursing (PACSON) is located in the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services. Four undergraduate programs; 5 masterís degree programs; and 5 post masters certificates are offered. Undergraduate programs lead to the B.S.N. and the graduate program leads to the M.S.N. degree with 4 different nurse practitioner specialties. Nursing is an impacted program and admission is highly competitive. The undergraduate and graduate programs are nationally ranked.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctorate (Ph.D, DNP or DNS) in nursing is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. The doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/16/2018).

  1. Evidence of expertise in a Nursing focus area with associated clinical experience;
  2. Evidence of scholarly achievement;
  3. Evidence of successful classroom and clinical experience (within the last five years), including the facilitation of understanding and mastery of health care in multiple environments at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  4. Evidence of eligibility to obtain a California RN license, and;
  5. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural/multiethnic urban campus environment with a substantial population of first-generation students.

Salary: Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
