Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at the American University in Cairo welcomes applications for a full-time Professor or Associate Professor of Practice in School or Educational Psychology, or closely related fields, with an emphasis on diverse learners. Responsibilities for this position include teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses, supervising Master's theses, and advising students. The candidate will play a leading role in establishing a new graduate diploma in Learning Enrichment in collaboration with the Department of International and Comparative Education, in addition to developing other curricular and extra-curricular collaborations between both departments. Among the courses that this faculty member could teach include: Psychology in the Schools, Reaching Diverse and Underserved Learners, Assessment and Evaluation for Learning Enrichment, in addition to supervising workplace-based projects in Applied Projects in Learning Enrichment. The candidate is expected to maintain an active program of applied research and/or practice, and to promote interdisciplinary collaborations between both departments. Active service would be expected at the departmental, school, and university levels.

Job Requirements


Candidates must have a doctorate in school psychology, educational psychology, or a closely related area focused on diverse learners, and should have a strong teaching and practitioner leadership record. Experience in a K-12 school setting and commitment to diversity and social justice as evidenced by experience and community service are preferred. Successful candidates should have strong leadership capability or potential, and skills or potential in high quality teaching.
