Pay Range: 12 - at $88,656 - $124,764 (salary placement in the salary range will be based upon comparable experience and qualifications; increases are given annually thereafter up to highest step)

Classification Benefits:

Summary Description:

To provide leadership and manage all aspects of support for the SOCCCD Student Information System (SIS) and related third party applications, including development of strategy, policies, standards and processes that result in innovative and enhanced user support and training; assessment of the current and on-going training and support needs for the Student Information System (SIS) and various third party applications; management of the District service desk operation for SIS and related applications; and ensuring on-going interaction and communication with district and college faculty and staff.

To foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the District; lead by example; actively participate in and support District-wide participatory governance components and activities and other collaborative processes; encourage professional excellence among the staff and promote an organizational culture of customer service, innovation, and quality services.


Receives general direction from the Director of Information Technology–Administrative Systems, Director of Information Technology–Academic Systems or the Chancellor’s designee as assigned.

Exercises functional and technical supervision over internal and contracted staff as assigned.

Provides training and technical work direction to members of special project committees as required.

Job Requirements

Ability to:

  • Assure compliance with State and federal laws and District policies.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse constituencies within and outside of the District.
  • Coordinate with functional areas to interpret, apply and explain District policies and legal regulations and requirements.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret facts and complex situations accurately to arrive at sound and logical conclusions and recommendations.

  • Lead and facilitate group meetings and design teams effectively.
  • Learn the current mission, policies, procedures, functions, operations, administrative programs, activities and services of a community college district, including human resources, budget and accounting, purchasing, payroll, staffing, admissions, registration, student records, matriculation, financial aid, faculty load, curriculum, student registration and enrollment systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
  • Monitor the work of external contractors and assure conformance to contract requirements.
  • Prepare and present complex ideas and processes both orally and in written form.
  • Prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, procedures and training documentation.
  • Provide information and direction to others with varying levels of information technology knowledge.
  • Select, train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Understand and effectively and collaboratively work in a complicated multi-college environment, as well as within a system of community college districts.
  • Use independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in information technology, management information systems, information design or closely related field.

At least five years of increasingly responsible experience in user support of complex information systems including Student Information Systems; at least three years of experience as a project manager and two years of practical leadership experience in user support.

License or Certificate:

A valid California driver’s license.
