The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Arizona invites applicants for the Jeffrey B. Plevan Chair in Israel Studies, tenure track, to begin August 2018. We seek to appoint at the Associate or Full Professor rank. The area of specialization under the broad rubric of “Modern Israel Studies” is open, but preference will be given to scholar-teachers with expertise in Cultural Studies, History, Political Science, Sociology, Gender and Women’s Studies, or related fields in the social sciences and humanities.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and a record of scholarly excellence in research, teaching, and service/outreach.

The Plevan Chair will be a notable scholar who is committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, administrative leadership, and to local, national, and international outreach.

The position carries a 2-2 teaching load that includes introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in Modern Israel Studies, as well as occasional graduate-level courses and seminars.
